Our Methodology

How the Tracks Are Structured

Intensity Table First

Every track shows weekly hours and assessment weeks before you enrol. You read the table, then decide.

Sequential Standards

Cold Start's exit standard matches Hot Work's entry standard. You can move between tracks without gap-filling.

Staffed Support

Cohort channels are staffed weekday evenings when participants are typically studying. Not a bot — a person.

Specific Records

Completion records state content, hours and assessment outcomes in enough detail to be referenced professionally.

WS-001

Cold Start: Foundations

8 weeks 7 hrs/week Evening paced

For people beginning from nothing. Python, the command line, version control, data handling and enough statistics to read a result honestly. Taught in the evenings at a pace that assumes a full working day beforehand.

This track does not assume prior coding experience. It does assume you can install software, follow written instructions and set aside seven hours across the week. The weekly breakdown is available on the intensity table before you pay.

What the Track Covers

Weeks 1–2

Python basics and the command line

Weeks 3–4

Version control and project structure

Weeks 5–6

Data handling and tabular data operations

Weeks 7–8

Statistics fundamentals and reading model output

  • Weekly exercises with written feedback
  • Recorded library — every session available after 24 hours
  • Staffed cohort channel (weekday evenings)
  • Twice-weekly office hours
  • Written record of course completion

WS-002

Hot Work: Applied Model Development

16 weeks 12 hrs/week 4 Assessed Projects

A sixteen-week track through model architectures, training loops, fine-tuning, evaluation design and the engineering that surrounds them. The intensity table is published before enrolment so nobody is surprised by the load.

Twelve hours a week including two live sessions. This is a meaningful commitment alongside a full-time job. People who complete it do so because they read the intensity table, cleared room in their schedule and treated the track like the second job it is during those sixteen weeks.

What the Track Covers

Weeks 1–4

Model architectures and how design choices affect behaviour

Weeks 5–8

Training loops, loss functions and debugging training runs

Weeks 9–12

Fine-tuning approaches and evaluation design

Weeks 13–16

Production engineering: serving, monitoring and iteration

  • Four assessed projects with tutor code review
  • GPU credits included — train on real infrastructure
  • Architecture clinics — four sessions addressing design tradeoffs
  • Staffed cohort channel and recorded library
  • Written record of course completion

Tempering: Capstone & Career Workshops

24 weeks Mentored Weekly Shipped System

A twenty-four week programme ending in one shipped system, one written technical report and one recorded defence. Weekly mentoring from a practising engineer, fortnightly cohort review, and workshops on technical writing, portfolio construction and interview practice.

This track is for people who intend to move into roles where AI engineering is a significant part of the job. By the end you have a deployed system with a hosted demo page, a written record of what you built and why, and a defence recording you can share.

What the Track Covers

Weeks 1–6

Project scoping, technical specification and design

Weeks 7–16

Build phase — weekly mentoring, fortnightly cohort review

Weeks 17–20

Technical writing, portfolio construction and interview workshops

Weeks 21–24

Start with Cold Start if…

Python is unfamiliar territory. You have seven hours per week and want to be able to read and write code confidently at the end of two months.

Start with Hot Work if…

You can write Python. You want to understand model training and end up with four assessed projects and a working knowledge of production engineering decisions.

Start with Tempering if…

You have the engineering foundations and want to end with something you built, documented and can demonstrate to a future employer or client.

Standards Across All Tracks

How We Run the Programme

Privacy and Data Security

Participant information is stored on secured infrastructure. Enrolment data is not shared with third parties. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Completion and Progress Tracking

Cohort coordinators track submitted work and flag participants who are falling behind before the situation becomes unrecoverable. We contact you, not the other way around.

Curriculum Refresh Cycle

Track content is reviewed between cohorts. Frameworks and tooling referenced in exercises are updated when major version changes affect the teaching material.

Support Response Standards

Cohort channel questions posted during weekday evenings receive a response within four hours. Weekend questions are addressed on the next working day morning.

Terms and Enrolment Clarity

Enrolment terms, fees and what is included per track are documented before payment. No items appear on invoices that were not listed in the track description.

Tools Panel — What You Will Need

Each track publishes a static tools list before enrolment: specific software, versions and system requirements. No surprises mid-track about needing a different tool or operating system.
